Hi, I’m Carol-Joy.

“If you’ve been feeling anxious, stuck in unhelpful patterns, or unsure how to repair a relationship, you’re not alone — and you don’t have to sort it out by yourself. I help adults, young adults, and couples understand what’s underneath their stress so they can make meaningful, lasting change.

I work with clients who are navigating anxiety, depression, communication difficulties, grief, and the emotional impact of life transitions. Whether your stress shows up in relationships, at work, or in your sense of self, we will explore what’s contributing to your distress and what supports your well-being.

I strive to create a safe, warm environment where you can slow down, reflect, and feel genuinely heard. My practice is affirming for LGBTQIA+ individuals, and I value each person’s identity, story, and lived experience. As someone trained in Restoration Therapy, I help clients clarify their needs, understand the patterns that keep them stuck, and build healthier, more compassionate ways of relating — both internally and with the people they care about.

If you’re looking for support in easing anxiety, strengthening your relationships, or moving through a difficult season, I’m here to help you move toward a more grounded, connected, and authentic life.”

Carol Joy is a Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Justin Little, LMFT and Katie Keck, LMFT.

Approach:

Individual + Couples Therapy

Individual Therapy is when a  therapist helps one singular person through different areas of concern. Typically to address personal, professional, emotional, and psychological concerns.

Couples Therapy is when all partners in a committed relationship are treated at the same time by the same therapist. Typically to improve communication and build a stronger bond.

Areas of Specialty:

Anxiety, Life Transitions, Religious Trauma

Anxiety is the mind and body's threat-response system misfiring in the absence of actual danger — producing fear, worry, and physical symptoms that are meant to protect us but instead interfere with daily functioning.

Life transitions are significant changes — planned or unexpected — like career shifts, divorce, loss, becoming a parent, or aging, that disrupt a person's sense of identity and stability, often bringing grief for what was left behind alongside anxiety about what comes next.

Religious trauma is the lasting psychological harm caused by harmful religious experiences — shame-based teachings, spiritual abuse, or leaving a controlling faith community — that deeply impacts identity, self-worth, and the ability to trust, often presenting similarly to complex trauma.
